In the last week of the article, we briefly introduced several current production processes of plastic products. They have been widely used in our industry. In this week, I want to focus on discussing in the history and basic applications of thermoforming/vacuum forming.
The principle of vacuum forming :
Also known as thermoforming, also called by vacuum forming. After heating, plastic sheet it is transformed into a three-dimensional product through the method of vacuum and air pressure. It is divided into thin sheet forming, the material thickness is from 0.1 to 1.5mm, and the thick sheet is formed by vacuum forming, and the material thickness is more than 1.5mm. And thickness can make complex three-dimensional appearances, such as arcs, geometric shapes, and diversified appearance colors, eliminating the need for polishing and spraying. There is no limit to the minimum order quantity of thick vacuum forming, generally more than 300 pieces for one time, and the product development to mass production generally only takes 2 to 4 weeks.
The cost of mold repair is low, and the time is short. Thick vacuum forming product’ strength of the product can also be increased through subsequent/angle improvements
History:
As early as 20th century, the vacuum forming molding process has been known by people; after the 1940s, it began to be used in the industrial production industry; and until the 1960s, vacuum forming process began to have a greater development, widely used for the packing. The vacuum forming technology has been developed all the way, and it has become one of the important methods for processing packaging materials. With the further research and improvement of plastic materials, thick sheet materials have gradually become manufacturable for vacuum forming process. It uses thermoplastic sheets as the molding object. For some developed countries abroad, vacuum forming molding is an older molding process. With the advancement of technology and the development of science and technology, the current vacuum forming has been highly automated and mechanized, and no waste is generated, and 100% of the raw and auxiliary materials are turned into products. And formed the molding system engineering of full assembly line production.
Basic application:
The thick vacuum forming molding industry has become one of the most important methods for processing packaging materials since its development in the 1940s. Demand has stimulated development. The vacuum forming industry has also developed continuously following the changes in market supply and demand and prices. The impact of the overall market packaging market has also changed. The division of labor for vacuum forming products has become more and more clear, with high, medium and low grades, forming a targeted professional large-scale vacuum forming manufacturer, and the number of manufacturers is increasing day by day. In order to increase competitiveness, companies have to invest a lot of money to make products. Publicity, which exacerbates the production cost of the product. And today, vacuum forming technology has been widely used in various industries-machinery and equipment shells, automobile plastic shells, medical equipment protective shells, tricycles, forklifts, golf carts and other shells. They are already relatively mature application of molding process.
As for us, we are expanding our factory, factory area will reach 12,000 square meters. We have added some latest thermoforming equipment and CNC equipment, and we are expected to become the largest vacuum forming and the most professional manufacturer in Guangdong Province.
In the next week, I will introduce more knowledge/ technology about plastic products and please pay attention to us and our company- Dongguan Ditai Plastic Company,
Thanks!
