Vacuum Forming Process for Custom Robotics Enclosures

At DitaiPlastic, the creation of custom robotics enclosures begins with precise tooling fabrication, tailored to meet specific design requirements. Utilizing our in-house mold CNC capabilities, we develop tools that can accommodate large-format parts up to 5000 × 2500 × 1000 mm. The process starts with the extrusion of plastic sheets, available in materials such as ABS, PC, and HIPS, with thickness options ranging from 0.5 to 12 mm.

Heat Forming and Material Selection for Robotics Enclosures

During the heat forming phase, our 16 advanced thermoforming machines ensure uniform heating and consistent forming across the entire sheet. Material selection is crucial for robotics enclosures, where ABS and PC are often preferred for their impact resistance and durability. Each sheet is heated to the specific forming temperature required by the chosen material, ensuring optimal malleability and structural integrity.

Precision CNC Trimming and Datum Establishment

Post-forming, each robotics enclosure undergoes precision CNC trimming utilizing our 16 five-axis CNC machines. This step is vital for achieving exact dimensional tolerances of ±0.5 mm and ensuring that all mounting points align perfectly with the robotic components they will house. The trimming process also establishes the datum points essential for correct assembly and integration into robotic systems.

Surface Finishing and Application-Specific Criteria

After trimming, enclosures proceed to our four paint booths for customized surface finishing. Options include matte, gloss, or textured finishes, tailored to the specific needs of industrial environments. For applications in manufacturing robotics, surface durability and ease of cleaning are often prioritized.
